I’m not going to rewrite Neil Patel’s awesome post on Search Engine Land about the Social Media Alphabet, I suggest you go hop over there yourselves, kids. Then come back here, oh PLEASE come back here
Seriously, though. This is music to every SEO’s ears who has a love-hate-love-strangle-hate-tolerate relationship with musclebound Mr. Search Universe Google and his runners up Yahoo and MSN (GYM). For all us tech-savvy social media NeRDS we have a new acronym (I took the creative license to rearrange the DNRS acro).
Digg, Netscape, Reddit and Stumbleupon.
SEO’s are jumping for joy because the keyword meta tag has been resurrected by folksonomy. We’re over the moon because Google doesn’t reign supreme over us (until it ultimately buys out Digg).
I would argue here, however, that Youtube has not been given justice here, and really is more popular, useful and entertaining than Stumbleupon. A better acronym is NRDY. And, DOH! There’s King Google once more.
